Course Description
This course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in basic emergency medical care and lifesaving skills for first responders. Emphasis is placed on Basic Life Support (BLS) principles, patient assessment, airway management, CPR, AED use, bleeding control, and managing common medical and traumatic emergencies until higher levels of care arrive.
Students will participate in hands-on practical training focused on real-world emergency response and team-based patient care. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive their BLS CPR Certification.
Course Objectives
Demonstrate proper adult, child, and infant CPR techniques in accordance with current BLS guidelines.
Properly utilize an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during cardiac emergencies.
Demonstrate effective airway management and basic ventilation techniques.
Perform patient assessments for medical and traumatic emergencies.
Identify and manage life-threatening conditions using Basic Life Support interventions.
Demonstrate proper bleeding control techniques, including direct pressure and tourniquet application.
Understand the roles and responsibilities of first responders operating within a BLS environment.
Demonstrate safe patient movement and emergency scene operations.
Effectively communicate patient findings and transfer information to arriving EMS personnel.
Successfully complete practical skill evaluations and BLS CPR certification requirements.
