Course Description
This 8-hour Hands-On Training (HOT) course is designed to build firefighter and rescuer confidence, competency, and operational efficiency while operating on rope systems in elevated environments. This program places a heavy emphasis on practical rope skills, repetition-based training, and movement on rope systems through realistic hands-on evolutions.
Students will spend the day ascending, descending, rappelling, transitioning obstacles, passing knots, and operating within controlled rope environments designed to improve confidence, body positioning, communication, and rope handling proficiency. The course is focused on developing comfort and competence while working at height and reinforcing the fundamental rope skills needed during technical rescue and rescue-based operations.
This is not a classroom-heavy lecture course. Students should expect a physically active training environment built around repetition, movement, skill stations, and realistic rope problems designed to challenge students while building confidence and operational familiarity.
Emphasis is placed on rope system safety, efficient movement, edge transitions, knot passing techniques, rappelling control, ascending systems, and overall rope management. The goal is to expose students to repeated practical evolutions that reinforce rope fundamentals while increasing confidence operating in elevated and technical environments
