8 Hour Light & Fight – Live Fire Scenarios HOT

Course Description

This 8-hour Hands-On Training (HOT) course is designed to place firefighters into realistic first-in building fire scenarios focused on aggressive engine company operations, fire attack, coordination, and decision making under live fire conditions. This program is built around repetition, movement, communication, and realistic fireground problem solving — bringing real-world fireground experience directly to the training ground.

Students will work through multiple live fire evolutions focused on making the first-due company faster, more efficient, and more aggressive while still operating within sound fireground principles. Emphasis is placed on hose deployment, nozzle techniques, fire attack, water application, reading conditions, coordinated movement, communication, and adapting to rapidly changing fireground environments.

This is not a stand-around-and-watch class. Students should expect a physically demanding, high-tempo training environment centered around repetition and practical application. Evolutions are designed to build confidence, reinforce fundamentals, and expose firefighters to realistic fireground stress in a controlled environment.

The modern fireground is unforgiving. Firefighters must be capable of making quick decisions, moving with purpose, and operating effectively under pressure. This course is designed to sharpen those skills through realistic live fire training and scenario-based repetitions that directly translate to street operations. This Course can also be adapted to meet NFPA 1410 annual performance requirements
