(8hr) FAST! Rescue Board RIT Training

Course Description

This 8-hour Hands-On Training (HOT) course is designed to improve firefighter survival and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations through the aggressive and practical use of the FAST Rescue Board during firefighter removal and downed firefighter rescue scenarios. This program places heavy emphasis on hands-on repetitions, realistic firefighter rescue problems, and movement-based training designed to improve operational confidence and efficiency during Mayday incidents.

Students will work through multiple realistic firefighter rescue evolutions focused on packaging, moving, and removing downed firefighters utilizing the FAST Rescue Board in confined spaces, stairwells, restricted environments, entanglement situations, and interior fireground scenarios. Emphasis is placed on speed, communication, teamwork, problem solving, and practical rescue movement under stress.

The FAST Rescue Board has rapidly become one of the most effective tools available for firefighter rescue and victim movement on the modern fireground. This course is built around maximizing the operational capabilities of the board while reinforcing proven RIT principles, firefighter survival concepts, and aggressive rescue tactics.

This is not a classroom-heavy lecture course. Students should expect a physically demanding, high-tempo training environment focused on practical application, repetitions, and realistic rescue scenarios designed to challenge crews in stressful and confined environments.

The goal of this program is simple: make firefighters faster, more efficient, and more confident when removing a downed firefighter from a hostile environment.
