Course Description
This 8-hour advanced auto extrication training program delivers a high-intensity, scenario-based experience designed for responders who have already mastered the basics and are ready to build proficiency in complex and challenging vehicle rescue operations. The course emphasizes advanced techniques, problem-solving under pressure, and coordinated team execution in high-risk extrication scenarios.
Participants will progress through hands-on evolutions that include advanced stabilization methods, complex entrapment situations, hybrid and electric vehicle considerations, laminated glass management, dash rolls/lifts, third-door and B-post relocations, and multi-tool extrications. Scenarios will involve varied vehicle positions—such as vehicles on their roof, stacked or impaled vehicles, and confined space extrications—to simulate the dynamic and unpredictable nature of real-world incidents.
Emphasis is placed on the integration of medical and technical rescue teams, time-critical patient access, and decision-making in unstable environments. Instructors provide coaching on efficient tool selection and sequencing, including hydraulic, electric, and manual equipment. Safety remains a cornerstone, with continuous risk assessment, PPE enforcement, and scene control embedded into every evolution.
This physically and mentally demanding training is ideal for departments looking to refine their vehicle rescue capabilities, develop leadership under stress, and enhance operational effectiveness in complex auto extrication situations. The program aligns with NFPA standards and can be adapted to meet regional protocols and equipment availability.
Course Objectives
This advanced course builds on foundational extrication skills, focusing on complex rescue scenarios involving severe entrapments, unstable vehicles, and modern vehicle technology. Participants will perform advanced stabilization, dash displacements, roof and post removals, and techniques for hybrid/electric vehicle incidents. Emphasis is placed on strategic tool use, patient-focused extrication, and coordinated team operations in high-stress environments.
