(8hr) Burn and Learn – Mobile Live Fire Training

Course Description

This 8-hour Hands-On Training (HOT) program is designed to bring realistic live fire training directly to your department utilizing Muddy River Training’s 30-foot Fire Facilities Class A Mobile Burn Trailer. This course was specifically developed for departments that may not have regular access to fixed burn buildings or regional training facilities but still want to provide their firefighters with realistic, compliant, and aggressive live fire training opportunities.

The Burn and Learn program focuses on practical engine company operations, fire attack, hose management, nozzle control, search considerations, communication, and coordinated interior firefighting during realistic live fire evolutions conducted inside the mobile burn trailer environment. Students will work through multiple repetitions and scenario-based evolutions designed to improve confidence, decision making, and operational effectiveness under live fire conditions.

This program allows departments to conduct meaningful live fire training at their own location while exposing firefighters to heat, smoke, fire behavior, nozzle reaction, interior movement, and realistic suppression operations in a controlled environment. The emphasis is on repetition, movement, communication, and real-world application — bringing street-oriented firefighting directly to the training ground.

This is not a classroom-heavy course. Students should expect a physically demanding, high-tempo training environment focused on hands-on drills, realistic scenarios, and practical fireground skill development. Evolutions can be tailored to the hosting department’s operational needs and experience levels.

The goal of this course is simple: provide accessible, realistic live fire training opportunities to departments that may otherwise have limited access to burn facilities while reinforcing aggressive but disciplined fireground operations
