Auto Extrication Basics HOT – (8) hrs

Course Description

This 8-hour intensive training program delivers a realistic, scenario-driven approach to mastering the fundamentals of auto extrication. Designed for both new and experienced responders, the course provides a progressive skill-building experience focused on core tactics, safety, and team coordination during vehicle rescue operations.

Participants will engage in hands-on evolutions that begin with tool familiarization and basic stabilization, advancing through door removal, roof operations, dash displacements, and patient-centered extrication strategies. Realistic vehicle scenarios—including upright, side-resting, and overturned positions—simulate common crash challenges, emphasizing the need for rapid assessment, clear communication, and decisive action.

Training is conducted using hydraulic and electric rescue tools, cribbing, stabilization struts, and hand tools. Instructors guide each evolution with a focus on safe practices, effective technique, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions on scene. Safety officers are integrated into each scenario to reinforce proper PPE use, risk mitigation, and scene control.

This full-day program is physically demanding and team-oriented, designed to instill confidence and competency in basic extrication operations under realistic time and pressure conditions. It meets or exceeds NFPA and local vehicle rescue training guidelines and is ideal for departments seeking to strengthen their auto extrication capabilities through focused, high-value training.
